Amy
Co-Executive Director & Hip Hop Instructor Since 2010 As a teenager, Amy pursued her interest in hip hop by joining Unique Movement, a Brooklyn-based dance team that has since become a distinguished member of the East Coast Dance Community. Through Unique Movement, she met our founder, Andy Feng, and became the first hip hop instructor for the studio. She has now over 8 years of experience in teaching and working with children and adolescents. In 2017, she received a Master's of Arts in education from Teachers College, Columbia University to pursue her professional career in teaching. You can find her on Saturdays teaching the beginner and intermediate level hip hop classes for kids 5-18 years old. |
Estefano
Ballet Instructor Since 2013 Estefano Gil was Born in Caracas, Venezuela where he began his training at Ballet-Arte School. Since then he has joined and performed demi-soloist and soloist roles in major dance companies such as Ballet Teresa Carreño, Caracas Contemporary Ballet, and INCOLBALLET. He’s performed with these companies in Belgium, Holland, Russia, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic among others. Since 2012, he has performed as a guest artist in Staten Island Ballet, New England Ballet, and FJK Dance company. His Repertoire includes: Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Our Waltzes, among others. You can catch him on Saturdays and Sundays teaching our pre-level and intermediate-level ballet classes for kids 3- 15 years old. |
Maxine
Ballet Instructor Since 2014 Maxine found herself obsessed with dancing and performing after her kindergarten class’ production of “Singing In The Rain” which led her to ballet at the age of 6. Maxine attended Studio E in Queens till the age of 14 when she was accepted to Fiorello H. LaGuardia HighSchool for Performing Arts. LaGuardia is where Maxine’s love of dance and community expanded. While pursuing her Bachelors degree at Queens College, Maxine was introduced to Andy’s Dance & Art Center where she taught for 2 years till 2016. Still attending classes herself, the sense of enchantment and connection was never lost and is what drew Maxine back to Andy’s Dance & Art Center where she teaches Ballet and Contemporary on Saturdays |
Annie
Ballet, Ballroom, and Jazz Instructor Since 2016 Annie started her career as a professional ballet teacher in 2010. She has worked with multiple schools and dance studios in Guangzhou, China. In 2015, she came to the United States to pursue her professional training program in Peridance, working with choreographers Vivake Khamsinhsava, Rachel M. Hettinger and Diego Funes. She has created many ballets for kids and teens, reminding them to "dance with love". You can find her on Sundays teaching our beginner and intermediate leveled ballet classes for kids 5-12 years old. |
Dan
Yoga Instructor Since 2019 Dan participated in his first yoga class at Yoga to the People in college. From there, he developed a keen interest in the asana (physical) practice of yoga as it brought self awareness to the body and breath. After immersing into the yoga community, Dan decided to pursue his yoga teacher training with Briohny Smyth and Dice Klein in Koh Samui, Thailand in 2018. Since his return, he hopes to continue and share his practice with the community by guiding others to achieve tangible progression by pushing physical and mental inhibitions. Meet him on your mat every Tuesday night, 8:30-9:30! |
Barbara
Ballet Instructor Since 2020 Barbara Tosto is originally from Sicily, Italy. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Dance of London in 2012 and after that she moved to the States. In New York she attended the Joffrey Ballet School where she graduated in 2018. In the meanwhile, she had the opportunity to dance with the Bellini Junior Ballet Company in the prestigious Greek Amphitheatre of Taormina, Italy and with the JSLN Dance Company in Germany. She danced with New York Dance Project where she had the opportunity to perform works by Gerald Arpino, Robert Battle, Tyler Gilstrap and Larry Keigwin around the country. She is very excited for the opportunity to perform in Hudson Ballet Theatre’s Nutcracker. FInd her teaching the ballet classes at our new location! |
Christal
Hip Hop Instructor Since 2020 Christal is a Brooklyn native who discovered her passion for Hip Hop and urban dance while realizing one of her happiest moments was performing on stage. For the past 7 years, Christal has been a part of the East Coast dance community. She has competed in many Hip Hop and urban dance competitions such as Prelude EC, World of Dance and Elements. Since 2013, she has been a part of competitive teams including Unique Movement and Synchronic Dance Team. She has worked as a choreographer for both and is now a director for Synchronic. One of her responsibilities is to help lead her team to continue delivering proud performances. Christal’s goal is to motivate her teammates and students to push forward and improve their dance abilities. Check out her classes on Sundays at the new location for kids 5-12 years old! |
